We are 100% volunteer run and we can always use a few more helping hands. We have two volunteer activities each week. We meet every Sunday to make about 500-600 burritos. We meet every Saturday to make about 200 sloppy joes in pita pockets. Meals are distributed to hungry people in the Eugene-Springfield area.
When can I volunteer?
We need volunteers every Sunday for Burrito Brigade to help wash, cut, and prep veggies for the burritos as well as help roll and wrap all the burritos. To help, come to the First Christian Church at 1166 Oak Street from 11am-3pm. For access, go to the back of the church and ring the bell by the back door.
If you’d like to help distribute burritos, please meet at the First Christian Church at 2pm. For access, go to the back of the church and ring the bell by the back door. We then distribute burritos by foot, bicycle, or automobiles directly to the hungry. On foot, distribution is usually in a group.
While volunteers are welcome to just show up, we prefer that you RSVP to a Burrito Brigade event on our Facebook page. If you have questions or if you’re bringing more than five people, please email us at email@example.com.
Saturday Pita Brigade meets at Bethesda Lutheran Church at 4445 Royal Avenue, Eugene, OR 97402 on Saturdays from 9.30am – 2pm. Please enter the kitchen by the North end of the Church (towards the playground) through the wooden gate. We need volunteers to help wash, cut and prep veggies; make barbeque sauce and cook the sloppy joes. Then we fill the pitas with the tasty sloppy joe mixture and distribute them to the hungry. If you want to come for distribution only, please arrive by 1pm. You can volunteer for Pita Brigade by RSVPing to the Pita Brigade Events on our Facebook page or just show up to Bethesda Lutheran Church.
For either Brigade, please wear closed toe shoes, and if participating in food preparation, bring a hair tie if you have long hair. If volunteering for distribution, please wear seasonally appropriate clothing (ie rain gear).
If you would like to be invited weekly to Burrito Brigade events, please join the Burrito Brigade Eugene Followers facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/BurritoSundays/
